Bebe Rexha has apparently had enough of the music industry.
The 34-year-old singer-songwriter went on a rampage on Twitter on Tuesday, claiming she had been “silenced” and threatening to air her dirty laundry.
“I could take down a HUGE portion of this industry. I AM frustrated. I AM UNDERMINED. I have been this quiet for so long,” she wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I didn’t see the signs even though people kept pointing them out and they were SO CLEAR. And when I opened my mouth, I was quiet. [sic] and PUNISHED by this industry. Things have to change or I’m telling ALL my truths. The good, the bad and the ugly.”
Rexha didn’t mention any specific incidents or issues, although when a fan pointed out that she wasn’t initially credited as a featured artist on David Guetta, Nicki Minaj and Afrojack’s 2015 single “Hey Mama,” she wrote, “My love. That? Compared to all that other stuff you don’t know about? That’s Child’s play.”
“This isn’t just anger,” she wrote in a follow-up post. “It’s sadness. I’m sitting in my hotel room in London crying my eyes out. I’ve felt hopeless for a long time. I’ve been walking around this city a lot and meeting fans and they’ve really sparked something in me.”
On June 3, she posted another update, thanking those who had reached out to her and expressed concern for her well-being.
“Thank you to everyone who is looking out for me. I am working on these issues and fighting for what I deserve,” she wrote. “Many news organizations have requested an interview. If you want to write about me, please support my new music. Thanks again. Love you.”
Rexha had attacked her former collaborator G-Eazy on Instagram last month, calling him a “conceited, ungrateful loser”. The post was later deleted.
Rexha is best known for songs such as “In the Name of Love”, “Meant to Be” and “I’m Good (Blue)”. Her latest single, “I’m the Drama”, was released on June 28.
